Where is your ship headed?

Heaven will be a place of singing;

Sing, O ye heavens; for the LORD hath done it: shout, ye lower parts of the earth: break forth into singing, ye mountains, O forest, and every tree therein: for the LORD hath redeemed Jacob, and glorified himself in Israel.  (Isaiah 44:23)

Saying, I will declare thy name unto my brethren, in the midst of the church will I sing praise unto thee.  (Hebrews 2:12)

And they sung a new song, saying, Thou are worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation.  (Revelation 5:9)

Heaven will be a place of fellowship;

One of the most beloved Gospel songs is entitled, “Leaning On the Everlasting Arms.”  The first stanza begins: “What a fellowship, what a joy divine…”    Will we know and recognize each other in Heaven?  The Scriptures tell us that during His transfiguration, our LORD spoke freely with Moses and Elias centuries after both these Old Testament heroes departed from this earth.

And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him.  (Matthew 17:3)

Heaven will be a place of serving;

Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them.  (Revelation 7:15)

And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him.  (Revelation 22:3)

Heaven will be a place of learning;

For we know in part, and we prophesy in part, But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.  (I Corinthian 13:9,10)

What will we learn about in Heaven?

We will learn concerning the person of God.

We will learn concerning the plan of God.

One of the most painful questions asked here on earth by Christians is why a loving and wise God allows certain terrible tragedies to occur.

We may rest assured that in Heaven God will take each of us aside and explain fully the reason for all our sufferings and trials.

What will be missing in Heaven;

No more sea,

And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.  (Revelation 21:1)

No more tears, no more death, no more pain,

And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.  (Revelation 21:4)

Death is swallowed up in victory.  O Death, where is thy sting?  O grave, where is thy victory?  The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.  But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.  (I Corinthians 15: 54c, 55-57)

No more sin,

And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing  that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb’s book of life.  (Revelation 21:27)

No more sickness, no more curse,

In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.  (Revelation 22:2)

No more Satan,

And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.  (Revelation 20:10)

No more thirst, no more hunger, no more heat,

They shall hunger no more, neither thirst and more; neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat.  (Revelation 7:16)

What will be present in Heaven;

Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.  (John 17:24)

But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.  (I Corinthians 13:10)

Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fullness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.  (Psalm 16:11)

That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.  (John 3:15)

And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.  (John 10:28)

Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a s new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.  (II Peter 3:13)

Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them.  (Revelation 7:15)

Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.  Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.  (Matthew 5:11,12)
