Britain is home to some of the world’s greatest treasures.

You’ll find astounding castles and palaces in every region of the land. Colossal military defenses and strongholds dot the landscape, while soaring spires, Gothic carvings and gigantic medieval masterpieces are a familiar sight around the country.

Traditional mill buildings are also plentiful in rural Britain and give a charming insight into the ways and industries of a bygone age. Many still function today and are a delight to see in action.

And don’t forget they are completely surrounded by water. You’ll find lighthouses, ancient ports and historic ships of all shapes and sizes around the complete length of the coast. From mammoth 16th-century warships to historic transatlantic cruise liners, Britain is truly a maritime nation.

The United Kingdom is made up of Great Britain (England, Scotland and Wales) and Northern Ireland, and is one of the 27 member states of the European Union (EU).

The majority of the population is English, Scottish, Welsh and Irish. However, Britain is an extremely diverse nation with a strong culture of racial integration and unity.

Some pictures from this great country.

The National Flag of England, also known as the Union Jack

As an American I consider England an ally of America and proud of our friends across the Atlantic.
